Alexander was laying on the golden sand of the beach, staring at a sunset. This was always the best spot for watching a sunset. His parents had shown him this spot about a hundred years ago. It hadn't changed much at all. His shirt was folded on a rock and his sword was next to him. It was reflecting the orange rays onto the side of his face. He sat up and shook his long ponytail, trying to get the sand out of it. "This is the only bad part about this beach..." He mumbled with a slight grin on his face.

REGINALD
The murmured cawing of hunting seagulls was the only sound shattering the otherwise endless, empty, silent bliss of the glimmering white sands and the deep clear waves of the ocean. Reginald's feet dug deeper into the hot, grainy shores as he squinted against the vibrant scarlet skies. The sun was just about to sink below the horizon. Darkness of night would blanket the sky soon enough.
If only that was the only darkness to emerge, Reg thought with a sigh. Night was a time even he had learned to fear.
The salty tang of the ocean air tingled on his tongue, making him grimace at the taste. His eyes followed a hermit crab, scurrying along in its bronze-colored shell. Reg reached out his finger slowly as to not scare the poor thing, smirking as its little red claws scurried to find ground on his rough skin. He watched its every little flighty move with amusement at its confusion.
" 'Tis a shame, isn't it Mother..." he said, facing the horizon. "The smallest are always the first to be overlooked."
His gaze shifted over to his left, where he noticed another familiar figure, also laying in the sands of the beach, just watching as the day disappeared. With a grunt he heaved himself off the grainy bed he had made for himself and stalked over to where the other man reclined. Reg folded his arms over his bare chest and sighed as an airship flew overhead, leaving a trail of white steam behind it.
"The peace will not last, my friend. It never does when man betrays his Mother," he said sadly, fiddling with the wooden charm dangling on his neck. Earth was furious with the human race, no doubt about that. But must it truly come to such violent, hateful punishment?
